Obituary for Ellen Michelle Rice Moore

Ellen Michelle Moore, loving wife, mother, Grammy, daughter, sister and friend passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023. Ellen was born in Bakersfield, California on June 14, 1961. She was the daughter of Melvin C. Rice and Lois Ellen Maxwell Rice. Ellen experienced a wonderful childhood growing up in the small rural town of Arvin, California. She attended DiGiorgio Elementary and graduated from Arvin High School in 1979.

Ellen moved to Ball, Louisiana in 1986. After her move to Louisiana, Ellen attended LSUA where she received her BSN in 1991. After becoming a Register Nurse, Ellen continued pursuing her career. Ellen received her MSN in 2011 from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. Ellen was a Nurse Practitioner for Rapides Regional Medical Center at the HP Long Clinic. She was a dedicated health care practitioner for over 30 years and truly loved and cared for her patients.

Ellen married Joe Moore in 1989 and, to their utmost delight, they welcomed to their home a daughter, Hannah Gail Moore in 1994. Ellen and Joe’s family continued to be blessed by the addition of Joseph (JoJoe) and Faith Breeland in 2010.

Ellen was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Rice, and in 2021, by her husband, Joe. She is survived by her children Hannah, Faith, and Jojoe of Alexandria, LA. Her stepdaughter Erin Moore also of Pineville, her stepson Jake Moore (Morgan) of The Woodlands, Texas, and her grandchildren Tyler Breeland of Gulfport, MS, and Brooklyn Moore and Brinly Moore of The Woodlands, TX. Her mother, Lois Maxwell Rice. Her sister Gail Rice Waters (Tim) all of Alexandria and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ellen’s life will be celebrated on January 21, 2023 at The Pentecostals of Alexandria, 2817 Rapides Ave, with public visitation from 10AM – 12PM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 12 PM. Graveside service will immediately follow the ceremony at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers honored to serve are JoJoe Breeland, Austin Waters, Spenser Waters; Matthew Waterson, Brice Waterson, and Dylan Carter.
