Obituary for Edwin James Powell
Mr. Edwin James Powell, age 60 of Alexandria, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Monday, May 1, 2023.
A graveside service will be held for Edwin on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Alexandria National Cemetery in Pineville, Louisiana.
Edwin was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Lanee Powell; mother, Janet L. Southworth; step-father, Ronald Southworth, Sr.; sister, Betty Jo Manuel; grandparents, Melville and Etta Evans; his father's parents and aunts and uncles.
Those left to cherish his memory are his father, Louis Powell; step-mother, Cathy Powell; sister, Juanita Sadler (Richard); uncle, Larry Evans (Terry); aunt, Barbara Weightman (Jim); nephews, Ricky Manuel (Jessie), Clayton Manuel (Brittany) and Michael Lee Sadler; nieces, Hailey Thomas (Ethan) and Kayla Manuel; two great nieces and two great nephews; two step-brothers, Ronald Southworth, Jr. and Tony Southworth; and a host of cousins.
Eddie, as he was affectionately called, was born in Tucson, Arizona on February 6, 1963.
Eddie was in communications while serving in the Navy on the warship USS Missouri from mid 1980s to November 1993. He was the person that would be on the speaker system saying "Testing....testing....123321....testing.....testing" to make sure the system was working properly. He also served in Dessert Storm.
The family would like to thank the staff at Rapides Regional Hospital, the in hospital hospice team, STAT home health and everyone that took care of him.
