Obituary for Doris Oneida Oneida Mitchell (Corbitt)
Doris “Oneida” Mitchell entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, January 20, 2021.
Oneida was a longtime member of Hebron Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She retired from the Grant Parish School Board after 16 years of faithful service. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and friends.
Oneida was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, H.D. “Bunny” Mitchell; her parents, Riley Luther Corbitt and Georgia Newton Corbitt; and her siblings, Velta Bohannon, Evelyn Thames, Irene Johnson, Ruby Buckelew, and Carlos Corbitt.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Ricky Lynn Mitchell of Dry Prong, Louisiana and Terry Dale Mitchell of Pineville, Louisiana; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Due to current health concerns regarding the pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Travis Sanders officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.
