Mr. Donald “Don” Russell Lachney, age 67 of Pineville, Louisiana passed peacefully on August 8, 2023. Don was born and raised in Pineville, where he lived his entire life except for the two years he served in the Army, stationed at Fort Polk. He worked as a volunteer fire fighter with Alpine, was a Rapide’s Parish Sheriff’s Deputy, and an Alexandria Police Officer, among other professions. Most recently he worked as a custodian at Tioga Junior High, where the students and faculty know him as Mr. Meep Meep due to his love of the roadrunner cartoon character.

Don was always active in the local running community, participating in numerous 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, and two marathons. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh and he has a song reference for EVERY occasion.
Don was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jewel Lenard; mother, Lillie Lachney; and brother, Mercer Almond.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Louise Lachney; her daughter, Lily Pastor; former spouse, Sallie Miller McManus; their sons, Mark Lachney and Michael Lachney (Holly); grandchildren, Aaron, Anna and Ethan Lachney; siblings, Charles Almond, Sandy Spivey (Billy), and Janice Normand; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating his life on Monday, August 14, 2023. Memorial visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am at Gallagher Funeral Home with services following at 11:00 am.
