Mr. Monroe entered eternal rest at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Monroe.

David was a Christian, of Baptist faith, and saved at an early age. He graduated from Tioga High School in 1977 and soon thereafter met his most loved and cherished wife, Janelle Bardwell Monroe, of 41 years. It was at this time he began his career with International Paper and also started acquiring his P.H.D from the prestigious university of M.I.T.(Monroe Institute of Technology.). After more than thirty years David ”Speedy” retired from IP and began his second career with Andritz, receiving leadership excellence awards..

David was a devoted husband and family man, a man of few words, but an absolute rock for Janelle, Ashley, David Jr., Cory, his adored grandkids, his mom and the rest of his family. When David, "Spud", gave advice it garnered people’s attention. He spent most of his free time avidly following the LSU Tigers, attending flea markets with Janelle and selflessly answering the calls of need from family and friends. If you needed a mechanic, The first words uttered were “Call David”. If an electrician was needed, “Call David”. If a plumber was needed, “Call David”. It did not matter the task, David was up for the challenge and would come to the rescue gladly and without hesitation. You knew it was all good when he displayed a little grin and soft chuckle after surveying the situation.

The Lord has now said “Call David” and he is in peace, free from pain in heaven with what is surely a very large grin and louder chuckle.

Mr. Monroe is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Janelle Monroe; his mother, Mrs. Glenda Monroe; a daughter, Ashley Monroe Tam and husband, Cory; a son, David L. Monroe Jr.; two grandchildren, Jackson Monroe Tam and Anistyn Renee Tam; three brothers, Brian Monroe and wife, Holly, Steven Monroe and wife, Holly, and Jeff Monroe and wife, Karen; and a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sister-laws, cousins, and friends.
