Cedric Dale “C.D.” Chapman, age 91, of Pineville, Louisiana, beloved father and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

His loved ones who preceded him were his beloved wife, Elizabeth McGee Chapman; his parents, Daniel Elijah Chapman and Nellie Peyton Chapman; and his siblings, Ethelyn Strange, Vance Chapman, Norma Raye Culkin, Wallace Chapman, Donald Chapman, Joseph Chapman, and Jimmy Chapman.

He will be remembered and missed by his daughter, Catherine Chapman Kent and husband Eric; his grandchildren, Danielle Kent and Rebekah Kent; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

C.D.’s early years were spent in Enterprise, LA with his seven siblings. These happy times figured prominently in his favorite stories years later. When Uncle Sam called during the Korean War, he signed up with the Navy where he earned multiple medals, toured the world, and was invited to join the crew of the Blue Angels. He turned down a military career to marry his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth McGee Chapman, and settle near their families. After completing his B.S. in Business Administration in two years and three months, he began working in business, improving each organization through his diligence, honesty, and hard work while forming lifelong friendships in each town. Two of these jobs included secretary-treasurer of the Caldwell parish policy jury and administrator of Central State Hospital Pineville. When C.D. wasn’t working, he enjoyed singing Gospel music with his father and brothers; serving as a deacon and choir member and cooking on the annual family squirrel hunting trips. He loved telling stories, which captured the essence of the Chapman values while entertaining his listeners. Even more, he loved working on his land where he felt closest to God. Riding his tractor, telling stories, and hugging his family were truly his favorite things in this world. His happiest place was wherever his daughter, son, and grandchildren were, even if it was just sitting still after a long day’s work. Family meant everything to him.
