Obituary for Catherine Meade Slaughter
Catherine Meade Slaughter, 69, of Pollock, Louisiana entered into eternal rest on December 10, 2022. Her family and friends can find comfort in knowing that after 26 years, she finally had her heavenly reunion with Cody.
Cathy was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She always ensured that her children never went without. She treasured her role as “Mimi” and her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren. She had the most giving heart and was constantly looking out for those in need. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. To know her, truly was to love her.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Jewell Meade; her son, Cody Tucker Slaughter; a sister, Charlene Evans; and 3 brothers, Hershel Meade, Bobby Meade, and C. Wade Meade.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jessica Butler (Jeffrey); a brother, Dan Meade (Linda); two sisters, Sandra Meade and Betty Boren (Donald); five grandchildren, Minley Parker (Garrett), Devin Manning, Tucker Futrell, Alyssa Butler, and Cale Butler; one great granddaughter, Adalida Jewell Parker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Donald and Betty Boren, Sherri and Megan Sloan, Sandra Meade, and Sonya Voda for helping care for Cathy during her illness. A special thank you is also extended to Jennifer Meade McCarthy for ensuring that Cathy was able to see her brother, Dan, before her passing.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday January 7, 2023 at 10:00am at Pollock Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
