Mr. Buster Burns, age 88, entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home.
Services for Mr. Burns will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Pine Coupee Pentecostal Church in Flattwoods at 10:00 AM. The Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the church from 5:00 PM until the time of service the next morning.
Mr. Burns was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Burns was a gifted auto mechanic, machinist and welder. He drove a stump truck for for many years, and held to build the first Cleco plant. Mr. Burns put his talents to good use on the race track, racing and working on the cars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, making people laugh, and never met a stranger. His great joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Almond Archie Burns and Amey Wells Burns; brothers, Alvin, Archie, Leonard, and A.D. Burns; sisters, Ollie Mae Plesa, Katherine Edwards, and Helen Basco.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Guin Burns; sons, Michael Burns and wife Fredda Jean and Jerry Burns and special friend Katherine Tyler; sister, Evangeline Guin and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Michaela Burns and special friend Jesse Whittenburg; Mickayla Cain husband Jonathon, Mikalynn Troquille husband Cory; and Alex Burns; great grandchild, Levi Wyatt Troquille.
Pallbearers honored to serve include; Alex Burns, Corey Troquille, Jonathon Cain, Trevor Merrell, David Rachal, Jr., and Jesse Whittenberg; with honorary Brandon Edwards.
