Obituary for Billie Murrell

After she fell, Mom came to Colorado Springs so Kate and I could take care of her. She loved the beauty of the place, and rekindled her childhood love of everything cowboy, especially Roy Rogers. But as her health declined, she told me we should just pack up and go home. Sometimes home was the house she left in Pensacola, but often it was her home and family in Alexandria. Home was less of a place to her than a network of friends and family.

After she was gone, we very briefly considered a small private service, but almost immediately we were deluged with calls from people who had missed her so much for the year she had been gone.
So we decided maybe it was time for us to take her home.

Our plan is to have a memorial in Pensacola on Sat.,March 14th at 11am for the many people who shared her life there.

Then on Tuesday, March 17th at 2pm we will have a memorial service in Ball, La. at Gallagher's Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at the cemetery next door were she will be next to her oldest son, Fred II, but known to us as Brother.
