Obituary for Barbara Earline Alston Black

Mrs. Barbara Earline Alston Black, age 79, entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.

Services for Mrs. Black will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with Reverend Dick Debusk officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Black was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was always happy and loved being around people. She was well travelled, a part of a sewing club, Wednesday Women's Club, a faithful member of Alpine First Baptist Church, and an Eastern Star. Mrs. Black worked in hardline retail for many years, and opened the first PX Shop at Fort Erwin in Barstow, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" H. Black; parents, Claude Alston and Loraine Lofton Alston; a grandson, Johnathan Sibley, and daughter in law, Bobbie Black.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Willie Black and girlfriend, Brenda Archer; daughter, Janet Black; brothers, Doug Alston (Glenda) and Johnnie Alston (Shelley); sister, Claudia Alston Snell; grandchildren, Shannon Paulk, Kimberly Kent (John), and Channing Stutson; great grandchildren, Christian Bremermann, Gabrielle Bremermann, Max Paulk, Grayson Paulk, Henry Stutson, Jack Stutson, and Meredith Stutson; great great grandchild, Bentley Bremermann; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff on the Covid floor at Cabrini Hospital for their care and compassion.
