Obituary for Alice Sharon Maxwell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alice Sharon Maxwell (née Waller) who left this world on February 17, 2023, at the age of 81.

There will be a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:30 p.m.

Sharon is preceded in death by her daughter, Kristen Maxwell; second husband, Larry Maxwell; first husband, Robert “Bobby” Deen; sister, Claire Reece Cook; and her parents. She is survived by three children, Martin & Annalysa Maxwell, Denise & Gary Mayeaux, and Thomas Duane Deen; two stepchildren, Cary & Kelly Maxwell and Christopher & Megan Maxwell; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Born on March 2, 1941, to William Thomas “Tom” and Cora Lee Waller, Sharon grew up in Tioga, LA and graduated from Tioga High School in 1959. She worked in many different fields including retail, education, law, accounting, and medicine throughout her life. Perhaps the most fulfilling of her many careers was ownership of a pharmacy in McGehee, AR. She started the business with her husband, Larry, and enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside her partner while giving back to the community of southeast Arkansas.

Outside of work, Sharon was an avid plant and animal lover, enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, and playing Wheel of Fortune. She and Larry spent a great deal of time traveling by RV to visit family and our national parks. Throughout her life, Sharon’s outgoing personality, dedication, and hard work earned admiration from all who knew her. She will be most remembered for her kindness, wit, and elegance, which touched the lives of so many.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Rest in peace, Sharon. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.
