Funeral services for Mrs. Melba J. Anders will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Dr.’s Eddie Simmons and David Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Anders, age 88, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, October 6, 2016 at Naomi Heights Nursing Home, Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mrs. Anders is preceded in death by her husband, Murdock Anders and her parents, Elzie and Georgia Jennings.

Mrs. Anders was a lifelong member of Baptist Temple and currently a member of Parkview Baptist Church. She was very active in WMU, Choir and teaching Vacation Bible School. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by one son, Donnie Anders of Alexandria; three daughters, Beverly Simmons (Eddie) of League City, TX, Judy Shorie of Alexandria and Patty Jarrell (John) of Pineville; grandchildren, Renee Palumbo, Richard Simmons, Hilary Simmons, Kim Stalsby, Stacy Hyatt, Randi Shorie, Heather Jarrell and S/SGT John Jarrell; nine great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank each and every one of the staff of Naomi Heights for “spoiling” Mrs. Melba during her stay there.
