Ms. Dorsey McClellan Eakin, age 84 of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, October 8, 2018, at Matthews Memorial Health Care Center. Graveside services for Ms. Eakin will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ball, Louisiana, with Reverend Dennis Brown officiating, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ms. Eakin was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She grew up on her family’s farm and picked cotton as a child. As an adult, Ms. Eakin raised chickens with her children. She had a deep love and relationship with the Lord and was always reading her bible, singing Gospel music, and praying. During a revival in West Texas in the 1940’s, she received the Holy Ghost when Carrie Eastridge was ministering. She was baptized in Jesus Name by Aaron Thames in Borger, Texas. Ms. Eakin was a longtime member of the Pentecostals of Alexandria. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Eakin; son, Dennis Reed; parents, Cleburne and Nola Mae McClellan; brothers, Herman, Junior, Abner, and Wade McClellan.

Ms. Eakin is survived by her son, David Reed (Sharon); daughter, Connie Reed; brothers, Johnny McClellan and Miliam McClellan (Sharon); 7 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
