Obituary for Ambrose Woodson

Funeral services for Mr. Ambrose Woodson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Deville Pentecostal Church, Deville, Louisiana with the Reverends Randy Harper and Robert Daniel officiating. A private family graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at the Belgard Family Cemetery, Deville, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Woodson, age 82, of Deville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Colonial Nursing Home, Marksville, Louisiana.

Ambrose Woodson was born to Monroe and Tressie Woodson. He was a loving father, devoted husband and faithful Christian. He cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After proudly serving in the United States Air Force, he was employed for 52 years at Huey P. Long Memorial Hospital where he retired as the Clinical Chief of Pathology. He served faithfully for many years as a board member and Sunday School Superintendent for the Deville Pentecostal Church. In his spare time he was an avid gardener.

He is preceded in death by his son, Gregory A. Woodson; one daughter-in-law, Pam Woodson; one sister, Corrine Vail; one brother, Hilton E. Woodson.

Those left to cherish his memory include, his loving wife of 58 years, Margie Woodson; one son, Larry A. Woodson; one daughter, Lisa Neal (Randy); two brothers, Alvinel Woodson (Betty) and Elbert Wayne Woodson (Shirley); three sisters, Charlie Dean Belgard (Harmon), Mary Price (John Junior) and Janis Jolly (Darrell); seven grandchildren, Amber, Georgianna (Gabe), Clint, Sam, Aaron, James and Hayden; two great grandchildren, Mia and Ava; also survived by a host of family and friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Deville Pentecostal Church, Deville, Louisiana from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
